Fyxr Introduces Real-Time Contractor Bidding

Homeowners now receive priced bids from multiple verified contractors within a defined window, replacing the call-three-contractors workflow.

Fyxr is launching real-time contractor bidding as the default flow for homeowners across every service category on the platform.

The mechanic is direct: a homeowner posts a job, contractors in the matching service area and trade see it in their inbox, and any contractor who wants the work submits a priced bid within a defined window. The homeowner picks who they want to work with from a side-by-side list of bids.

What this replaces

Before today, homeowners had two options for getting a number: call three contractors and hope two call back, or accept the first estimate that arrived. Neither produces consistent pricing and neither respects the contractor's time.

Bidding solves both. Homeowners see real prices from multiple contractors in one place. Contractors decide whether to bid based on a complete job brief instead of a voicemail.

How the window works

The default bid window is 24 hours. The homeowner can shorten it to 4 hours for urgent work or extend it to 72 hours for projects where they want broader coverage. Bids stay private until the window closes — contractors cannot see each other's pricing.

Pricing is the contractor's call. The platform's job is to make sure every bid is visible, every quote is comparable, and every contractor is verified before the homeowner ever sees their name.

Tie-breaking and revisions

Contractors can update their bid until the window closes. After the window closes, the homeowner sees all submitted bids ranked by price, with a clear view of what's included in each. If the lowest bid omits something a higher bid covers, that difference is shown explicitly — there's no implicit comparison.

Disputes

If a final bill diverges from the accepted bid, both parties have access to a dispute window through Fyxr support. The original bid and the bid history are part of the record, which keeps the conversation grounded in what was agreed to.

What's still manual

Homeowners review and pick contractors themselves. The platform does not auto-assign bids and does not recommend a winner. The selection screen is deliberately flat: bid, contractor profile, license, insurance, included scope. Nothing else.
